Exhibition: Dust in a Sunbeam
Swiss Club Member Muriel Dorthe shows her work at the new exhibition “Dust in a Sunbeam”:
Having moved to Edinburgh two years ago to take up a new challenge in her scientific career Muriel Dorthe has also found the time to further her long-time interest in visual art. Although she has only been painting more seriously for a few years the progress she has made in the last years has led her to develop a body of work that captures aspects of the world around her.
Muriel enjoys walking and feels inspired by coastal landscapes, especially the sense of wide open space and light in the immensity of the sky. She is more interested in the mood of the image and what it conjures up than a very literal representation of a specific place. Her mixed media images are atmospheric, evocative of misty coastlines or distant hills, creating work that is both a personal response but also one that many viewers will recognize. This evocative body of work can be seen at Newington Library, Fountainhall Road, Edinburgh, from 6th February, kicking off a lively season of exhibitions by local artists and crafts people.
