Christmas Party

1 December 2019

Swiss Club Edinburgh met for the last event of the year. It was a good party with mulled wine and lots of brought in food from the participants.

Santa was again warmly welcomed and the children were happy with their present. It was a good afternoon to spend the first Advent.

Walk along the beach

1 September 2019

We met at the car park from Gullan beach and enjoyed a beautiful walk along the beach to North Berwick. The weather was great and the view gorgeous.

We ended at Irene's where we had grilles Swiss Sausages and home baked cakes and enjoyed each others company.

Swiss National Day Celebration

28 July 2019

The Swiss Club Edinburgh had a great event with about 30 people celebrating the Swiss National Day. Even the rain stopped before we started the barbecue grill. People enjoyed sparkling Mauler, wine and other drinks. We ate the traditional Bratwurst and Cervelat (actually bockwurst) from the barbecue grill together with tasty salads, brought along by members. The deserts, also made by members, were delightful too. After listening to federal councillor (Ueli Maurer) the national anthem was played on the bag pipe by honorary consul Peter Müller-McDougall. During the afternoon people enjoyed talking to and catching up with each other.

Botanical Garden Tour

4 May 2019

Mark Newman gave the Swiss Club Edinburgh members a guided tour in the Botanical Garden Edinburgh.

He started with a presentation about the ginger family Zingiberaceae. We then continued a tour into the glass houses, where he has shown us different kind of ginger in all shapes and forms. It ended with a coffee or tea at the East Gate coffee bar.

Fondue evening

30 March 2019

We gathered at the end of March in the same location as usual for our annual cheese fondue evening. Not only the wonderfully prepared cheese fondue but also the home made desserts helped to fill everyone's bellies.

Happy and with lots of cheese and bread, topped with some Swiss Schnaps (for digestion, obviously) and wine, we started our journey home.
